New Patients
The professional nurse-patient relationship is believed to be a restorative component of care. As such, ensuring provider-patient match is an important component of our practice. All potential patients are asked to review our website to determine if they believe our approach resonates with them and if their conditions align with our current service offerings. Sandalwood staff, in turn, will review prospective clients' intake paperwork to confirm their eligibility to meet with a provider.
Scientific studies have demonstrated that patients who utilized psychotropic medications and engaged in regular psychotherapy (talk therapy) tended to improve more than those who took psychotropic medications or engaged in regular psychotherapy alone. We highly encourage all new patients to have a primary psychotherapist in addition to any therapy that may be woven into medication management appointments.
We are currently accepting referrals for new patients for telehealth method of service delivery only.
Is Sandalwood a good match for me?
Patients expected to achieve the most benefit from Sandalwood's services includes patients who are able to access telehealth technology, ready to make changes to patterns in their lives, receptive to medication and holistic lifestyle/routine changes (ex. diet, exercise, meditation, etc.), experiencing mild-moderate symptoms (ex. Sandalwood does not have resources to treat active suicidality), and commit to regular appointments.
What type of medications are prescribed at Sandalwood?
Providers at Sandalwood prescribe a range of medications, vitamins, and supplements. Each provider determines their practice orientation based on their education and experience.
This practice, in general, does not routinely prescribe benzodiazepines (ex. Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, etc.). New patients on these medications must be willing to engage in dialogue with the provider regarding long-term treatment plan, which may or may not include the medication regimens prescribed by previous providers. Some providers at Sandalwood do not prescribe any controlled substances - see provider profiles.

Step 4: Internal Paperwork Review
Staff will review your intake paperwork and insurance information to determine patient eligibility and alignment with services.
Step 2: Request an Appointment
Click the button below and select "Request an Initial Appointment." Be sure to select the provider that aligns with your needs. Enter your information to reserve a date/time for an appointment. Please note that the actual 60 min intake appointment is dependent on patient eligibility (as determined by a review of intake paperwork. See Step 4).
Step 5: Appointment Confirmation
After reviewing your paperwork, staff will reach out to
prospective patients to either confirm their appointment, or discuss concerns with eligibility or service alignment.
Step 3: Complete paperwork.
You will receive two automated emails (one from "IntakeQ" and one from "Headway") that require action:
A. Complete the patient intake packet with your medical history via the Intake Q email.
B. Confirm your insurance information and provide billing consent via the Headway email.
Step 6: Appointment
Meet your provider at your scheduled appointment time. All follow up care will be established during the appointment.
